Post-doc position available in the QUANTWARE group (2006)

A postdoctoral position opens in spring 2006 at the Quantware group of the Laboratory for Theoretical Physics, CNRS and University Paul Sabatier, Toulouse, France (website). This position is funded by the French National Research Agency (Agence Nationale de la Recherche) in the framework of the young researcher grant INFOSYSQQ (entanglement, decoherence and quantum algorithms: quantum information for few-qubit systems) attributed to a team composed of the permanent researchers Bertrand Georgeot, Daniel Braun and Olivier Giraud. Other permanent members of the Quantware group include Dima Shepelyansky, Klaus Frahm and Robert Fleckinger.

The research project is centered on the physics of quantum information, quantum computation and quantum chaos. The candidate should have a good knowledge of quantum mechanics, theoretical physics and computer simulations. Expertise in quantum chaos, quantum information or quantum optics would be a plus. Citizenship does not matter.

The Quantware group is part of the Laboratory for Theoretical Physics at CNRS and University Paul Sabatier. The Laboratory is also internationally recognized in the fields of mesoscopic physics, many-body interaction systems, high Tc superconductivity, quantum and classical chaos, statistical physics.

The position is available for one year and can be extended to a second year. The net salary is approximately 1800 euro/month. In addition, health insurance, retirement and unemployment benefits, plus support for travels are provided. Application deadline is january 15, 2006. The successful candidate is expected to take the position by spring 2006, but the precise date can be shifted by mutual agreement.

Applicants should provide a CV with the list of publications, a motivation letter, and arrange for two letters of recommendation to be sent (all preferably via e-mail) to:
